What Is An As-Built Survey:

An as-built as a record of drawings put together by the developer, contractor, or engineer for the local municipality after construction is complete. It shows all the improvements in their constructed locations with swing ties to reference monuments (i.e., surveying monuments, hydrants, light poles, manholes, etc.) that enable a municipality to locate the improvements in the future. As-builts are not only handy in locating items, but can also function as emergency construction plans to repair damaged improvements caused by natural or manmade disasters. The municipality also uses them in planning for and managing the effects of growth within the municipality.
